The Cloos Qineo Pulse 350 is an industrial MIG/MAG welder of transformer build, with pulse and double pulse. It gives 350 A at a 60% duty cycle and 270 A at 100%, and works in the band from 40 A to 350 A at a voltage from 16 V to 31.5 V. The supply is 400 V, the cooling is liquid, the total weight is 250 kg.
What this machine is for
This is a power source for heavy steel structures and multi shift work. 270 A at a 100% duty cycle means welding without breaks forced by temperature, and 350 A at 60% gives reserve for thicker sections. The 250 kg follows from the transformer build and means stationary equipment, set up at the line or at an assembly bay. The documentation points this model to production plants that need a heavy source with a predictable characteristic, and to structural steel shops working in a continuous cycle at currents of the order of 270 A.
The second group of tasks is materials sensitive to heat. Pulse detaches drops without a short circuit with the pool, so there is practically no spatter and grinding after welding falls away, and the amount of energy put into the part stays under control. Double pulse lays a slower modulation between the peak current and the base over that, so the face forms a regular ripple close to a TIG bead, the pool degasses better and porosity drops. This is used on aluminium and on stainless steels, for which the machine has programs loaded.
The third group is large assembly work and hardfacing. An interconnection cable from 5 to 10 m long lets you move the feeder away from the source and come up to the part without rolling the machine. The synergic programs cover carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminium, so the operator picks the basic variables and the circuit matches the wire feed speed and the working voltage.
Features and equipment
- Transformer build: a simple and rugged architecture that takes the conditions of a production shop, and the 250 kg gives a stable bay that does not shift. Such a construction has no sensitive power modules, so dust and filings harm it less than an inverter.
- Four roll feeder: an even wire feed without slipping and without deforming the filler, which matters with soft aluminium wires. Arc stability follows directly from a steady feed rate, so with a longer package and with cored wires this drive makes a difference.
- Integrated liquid cooling: the pump forces fluid between the source and the torch, so the handle does not overheat at 350 A and there are no stops for cooling. A lower package temperature extends the life of the nozzle, the contact tip and the cable itself, and the welder does not take the heat in the hand on long beads.
- Synergic control: you pick the basic variables and the circuit matches the wire feed speed to the current from 40 A to 350 A and the voltage from the range 16 V to 31.5 V. Hunting for the arc working point by trial falls away, and the results repeat whoever stands at the torch, which on several shifts means fewer repairs and fewer arguments about settings between crews.
- Programs for carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminium: ready parameter lines shorten the changeover and even out the results whatever the welder has behind him, and when the range of parts changes during the day they save minutes, which in series production add up to hours.
- Pulse process: the current detaches drops from the wire tip in a rhythm without hard short circuits with the pool, so spatter goes away and the finishing of the part gets shorter. In production where grinding follows welding this is a real saving of man hours, and the look of the weld is a bonus.
- Heat control in pulse: the changing current limits the risk of burning through thin sheet and reduces distortion of the part, and the process works with the stored programs for steel, stainless steel and aluminium, so the penetration stays deep despite the smaller dose of energy.
- Double Pulse: an extra low frequency modulation switches the current between the peak and the base and gives the process a rhythm, so the face forms a regular ripple and the pool has time to degas, which limits porosity. This is the choice for aluminium and for high grade stainless steels, that is for materials sensitive to overheating.
- A MIG torch 3 m made for higher currents and an earth cable 3 m in the set: the package is matched to water cooling, so at nominal parameters there is no drop in thermal output, and the cable does not heat along its whole length when you work close to the upper current limit.

What to watch out for
The data sheet gives current up to 400 A, and the source description 350 A at a 60% duty cycle, so confirm the value on the rating plate. The 250 kg means a pallet truck for transport and a tail lift or a ramp for loading. The 400 V supply needs a power socket, and a transformer source draws more from the mains than an inverter of similar power, so size the circuit with a margin. You check the cooling circuit before the first weld, because a broken flow damages the torch.
The interconnection cable is given as a range from 5 to 10 m, confirm the exact length of this unit on collection, because the reach of the bay in large assembly work depends on it. The torch is 3 m, on a large part count on a longer one or reckon with moving the bay. The rolls, the guides and the liner in the package are wear parts, look at them together with the insulation of the cables and the connectors of the water circuit. For welding aluminium pick rolls, a liner and a tip for soft filler, because without that the wire coils up in the feeder.
