The ESAB Law 510 is a MIG/MAG welder with a welding current up to 500 A at a 60% duty cycle and 400 A at a 100% duty cycle. The supply is 400 V, the cooling is liquid, the interconnection cable is 10 m.
What this machine is for
This is a power source for solid and flux cored wire in a gas shield, for structural steel. A current of 400 A in a 100% duty cycle holds long runs without breaks, so you take it for fillet welds in thick sections, for beams and for machine frames. At 500 A you have a margin for passes with deeper penetration.
The 10 m interconnection cable moves the feeder away from the power source. The power source with the cylinder stays in one place, and you go down with the feeder to the structure or under the part. The build is simple and compact, you make the settings straight away, without going into a menu, so bringing a welder onto the station is short.

What to watch out for
The card lists what is missing in the equipment. The machine has no voltage display, so you read the settings from the position of the switch and from a test on scrap material. It has no cover of the wire feeder either, so the spool and the mechanism are open to dust and to knocks.
The supply is 400 V, three phases. The cooling is by liquid, so before the start you check the fluid level, the flow and the tightness of the quick couplings. Lead the 10 m bundle without sharp bends. The card does not list a torch, an earth cable or the weight of the set, confirm the equipment and the transport before collection.
