The Hypertherm 85 is an inverter plasma cutter with a gas cooled torch. You set the cutting current from 25 A to 85 A, and the documentation gives 85 A at a duty cycle of 60% and 66 A at continuous load 100%. The data sheet of this unit puts the machine in the range up to 100 A.
What this machine is for
Apart from continuous cutting the machine has a mesh cutting mode and a gouging mode. Mesh cutting holds the arc on interrupted material, that is on gratings and perforated sheet. Plasma gouging removes a faulty weld or prepares a groove for a new joint.
The documentation gives the output of the hand torch: a recommended thickness of 25 mm at 500 mm/min, 32 mm at 250 mm/min and parting of the material at 38 mm at 125 mm/min. In gouging you remove 8.8 kg of metal per hour, and the groove has a profile of 5.8 mm by 7.1 mm. On a guide rail the figures will be different.

What to watch out for
A duty cycle of 85 A at 60% means cutting with breaks, and with no breaks the machine gives 66 A, so plan the pace from that figure. Plasma cuts with compressed air, so you need a compressor with a filter and a dryer, because moisture and oil shorten the life of the nozzle. The data sheet gives neither the supply voltage nor the weight, so check the rating plate before you start it.
