Kjellberg PA-S30 WH is a plasma cutter of transformer and rectifier design, made in Germany. You pick the cutting current with a switch in three steps, starting from 25 A and 50 A. Supply is 3 x 400 V at 50 Hz with a T32 A fuse, and the unit weighs 131 kg.
What this machine is for
This is equipment for stationary hand cutting and simple mechanised cutting. It suits cutting sheet in carbon steel and other conductive materials of medium thickness, dismantling work and scrapping, where dust and dirt quickly finish off delicate electronics. A design without inverter modules makes fault finding easier in your own maintenance workshop.
Adjustment is in steps. The lowest step of 25 A lets you cut thin sheet without melting the edge, the 50 A step is the universal current, working at a cutting voltage of 150 V, and the highest step gives the maximum power at 155 V and loads the nozzle and the torch cathode the most. On the highest step the power factor is 0.6 and the draw from the mains reaches 32 A, so the connection has to be strong.
The machine does not give the High-Definition cut quality you will find in newer CNC sources. The edge is typical workshop quality, for further machining. In exchange you get a simple, mechanically tough design that is repaired without changing power modules.
Features and equipment
- Transformer and rectifier circuit: it takes overload and dust well and is easy to check in basic fault finding.
- Stepped current adjustment in three steps: 25 A for thin sheet, 50 A as the universal current and the highest step for the thickest parts.
- Cutting voltage of 150 V at 50 A and 155 V on the highest step: a stable arc also on thicker material.
- High open circuit voltage of 275 V: a sure plasma arc strike with the older ignition technology.
- The WH marking: the machine is prepared to work with liquid cooled torches.
- Forced air cooling of the source, marked AF.
- IP22 housing with class F insulation.

What to watch out for
The unit weighs 131 kg, so it works at a fixed station or on a solid trolley. Supply is 3 x 400 V at 50 Hz, the fuse is T32 A, the apparent power runs from about 16 kVA to 24 kVA, and a power factor of 0.6 on the highest step means a higher current draw from the mains than in a modern inverter.
The open circuit voltage reaches 275 V. That is a value at which the insulation of the cables and of the torch body and a sound protective conductor are the condition for safe work, above all at a damp or dusty station. The WH marking points to preparation for liquid cooled torches, and with such a torch you watch the coolant flow, because running dry burns the wear parts in seconds.
Confirm the cutting current before you buy, because the shop catalogue data and the documentation give different values. For work you also need compressed air or another plasma gas, with a filter and a dryer.
How we sell used machines
This unit was checked in our service workshop in Krotoszyn with measurements to PN-EN 60974-4 and a load test. The price includes the first year of the basic service package: an inspection with cleaning of the machine and a validation measurement. Further years can be added. We ship across the European Union, collection in person by appointment.
