Paton MultiPRO-270 (15-4) MIG/MAG MMA/TIG HF 400V wire welder, basic data
The digital multi process semi automatic inverter PATON® MFI 270 MULTIPRO 230V is intended for semi automatic welding with MIG/MAG, for manual arc welding with MMA and for arc welding with TIG HF under shielding gases and protective mixtures with direct current. The machines of the MultiPro series have a module for contact free arc striking (oscillator) with a built in gas supply valve.
The fully electronic control used in this machine removes the drawbacks that are typical of multi process units built on analogue control systems, because such systems are by definition aimed at one selected process while all the remaining ones work as additions and control them less well. In a fully electronic system the control has all the resources of the power source at its disposal, within its full output and regardless of the process in use. The unit of the Multi-Professional series is intended for industrial use, and the power source can be separated from the wire feed mechanism, which serves both convenience and safety.
The additional adjustment options let you pick the best settings for a given situation. The power source provides a rated load current of 270A, which is enough for work with electrodes from ø1.6 mm up to easily melting ø6 mm and for semi automatic welding with solid wire of a diameter from ø0.6 mm to ø1.2 mm. The source comes preset to sensible values and stays simple enough as long as you do not go into the detailed settings, which already call for more experience from the welder. For hazardous working conditions a block that lowers the open circuit voltage in the MMA process is built in, and it can be switched on and off.
A characteristic feature of the PATON® Multi-Professional series semi automatic machines is the high quality, sealed, metal wire feeder and the KZ-2 connector of the EURO type, which has become a world standard and lets the user change the torch later as preferred. The machine has a protection module against an incorrect level of supply voltage (surges or voltage drops) as well as against overvoltage. Because the frequency of the voltage fed to the transformer is raised, the transformer can be several times smaller. The weight and the outside dimensions of the welder are therefore several times smaller than in conventional machines with the same output parameters.
Functions and features of the Paton MultiPRO 270 (15-4) MIG/MAG MMA/TIG HF 400V wire welder
GASLESS WELDING, WELDING WITH SELF SHIELDED WIRE
All PATON wire welders are prepared for welding with self shielded wire. Unlike the standard MIG/MAG process, this welding runs without shielding gas, but it does call for a special welding wire. Such wire creates its own shield, which helps to protect the welding arc.
MULTIPRO SERIES, BUILT IN IONISER
The welders of the MultiPro series have a built in HF IONISER, which allows contact free arc striking in the TIG process. This extension works through the control button of the TIG torch. The button control lead is connected directly to this module. After the control button on the torch is pressed, the control signal goes to the controller of the welding machine, which first runs the pre gas flow t1 to clean the weld area before welding and then, with a delay, sends the signal that switches the machine on, so TIG welding with contact free arc striking becomes possible.
BRAZE WELDING, INDUCTANCE ADJUSTMENT
The Paton WIRE WELDERS of the Standard and PRO series can be used for braze welding thanks to the inductance change function in three steps. Inductance control allows the arc characteristic to be matched to the thickness of the welded part. This function is needed to change the rate of current flow when the arc voltage changes. The thinner the part to be welded with MIG/MAG, the higher the inductance should be (soft arc, shallower penetration), for thick parts the opposite applies (hard arc, deeper penetration).
Main advantages of the wire welder Paton MultiPRO 270 (15-4) MIG/MAG MMA/TIG HF 400V

-
Switching of the operating mode 2T, 4T, gas purge from the feeder function
- Besides the protection against surges and drops of the mains voltage the machines have a working stabilisation system for longer voltage changes in the three phase network and allow correct work over a voltage range from 320V to 440V
- Half the electrical energy demand compared with conventional power sources
- Optimal fusion and a correct bead shape regardless of the welding position
3 year manufacturer warranty for consumers and for companies
The build quality is confirmed by a 3 year DOOR-to-DOOR manufacturer warranty. The models of the MULTI PRO series have a compact design with a number of technical solutions that raise the failure resistance of the machines. The reliability of the inverter in dusty and humid surroundings has been improved.

Main advantages of the Paton MIG/MAG MMA/TIG HF PULSE Paton MFI 270 MULTIPRO (15-4) 400V welder
- Broad options for setting the welding parameters:
a) the MMA process, 1 (basic) + 10 (additional)
b) the TIG process, 1 (basic) + 10 (additional)
c) the MIG/MAG process, 2 (basic) + 8 (additional) - Welding with pulsed current available in all processes;
- Besides the protection against surges and drops of the mains voltage the machines have a working stabilisation system for longer voltage changes in the three phase network and allow correct work over a voltage range from 320 V to 440 V.
- A fitted module for contact free striking of the electric arc in the TIG DC process (the arc is started with a high voltage in the kV range)
- The welder is matched to the standard power network. Thanks to the high energy efficiency the source gives half the electrical energy demand compared with conventional sources;
- Adaptive control of the fan speed, the fan runs faster when the machine is hot and slows down when the machine is not in use. This spares the fan, reduces the amount of dust inside the machine and lowers the noise during welding.
- Comfortable use thanks to the long duty cycle at rated current, which allows almost continuous welding with ø6 mm electrodes and a welding lead length of 14 m.
- High reliability of the machine in production conditions with heavy dust, the microelectronic circuit of the source sits in a separated part of the machine.
- The machine has a thermal protection system that guards all heat generating parts of the welding unit against overheating.
- All electronic parts of the machine are impregnated with two layers of good quality varnish, which keeps the product reliable over its whole service life;
- Improved stability of the electric arc, which in practice removes sticking of the electrode.
- Easy replacement of the fuses, because they are placed on the outside of the machine.
- When the source is separated from the wire feeder it keeps small dimensions and the machine stays mobile, which makes welding in places with poor access simpler.
