The Conti Plasma 90/60 is a simple plasma cutter with a two range switch, 90 A or 60 A. The torch is gas cooled and the plasma lead is about 7 m long. The product record gives a cutting current up to 100 A.
What this machine is for
With plasma you cut everything that conducts current: mild steel, stainless steel, aluminium and copper. Cutting goes faster than with a gas torch, the kerf is narrower and the heat affected zone smaller. You also carry no acetylene and oxygen cylinders, compressed air is enough.
Two ranges are enough when you cut thin sheet one time and a thicker section the next. You take the lower one for thin sections, the higher one for flat bars. This is a machine for a workshop in which plasma is a helper tool and not the base of production.
The plasma lead of about 7 m gives reach around the table and along a longer part without moving the source. You guide the torch by hand, along a marked line or along a rail.

What to watch out for
Control runs in two steps, there is no stepless choice of current here, so you match the thickness of the material to the range and not the other way round. The compressed air must be dry, free of oil and at a stable pressure, because damp shortens the life of the nozzle and spoils the cut edge. The record gives no requirement for the pressure or for the output of the compressor, set them before start up.
Nozzles and electrodes are consumable and their condition decides the quality of the edge, check them before the first cut. The record gives no supply voltage, no weight and no equipment beyond the plasma lead.
