The ADF filter Evolution V80M is the auto-darkening cartridge of the Böhler Welding Evolution V80M and Evolution V80M Air helmets, with auto-shade and a 124 x 80 mm viewing area. In AUTO mode it selects the shade from the arc intensity and you fine tune it by +/-2. Light state shade 2.5, manual ranges shade 4-8 and 9-14 in 0.5 steps, classification V1 + TIG to ISO 16321-2. The CR2450 batteries are not included.

Who it is for

For welders with an Evolution V80M or Evolution V80M Air, including the V80M Air Kit, who are replacing the filter. Tack Mode helps with tack welding: between welds the filter stays semi-dark and clears after 2 s. The manufacturer specifies the helmet for MIG/MAG, TIG, MMA, plasma cutting and grinding.

Replacing the ADF filter Evolution V80M and batteries

  • Lay the helmet face down and lift the headgear up to reach the filter.
  • Push the spring-loaded tab on the bottom of the filter in with a finger and, while holding it, lift the filter upwards. The filter comes free of the hooks.
  • The filter is connected by a cable to the GRIND button. Avoid any stress or pressure on the cable.
  • The battery retainer Böhler Welding battery retainer Evolution V80, V80M sits on top of the filter and is accessed from the front. Pull it out by the groove and insert 2 CR2450 batteries Böhler Welding ADF battery CR2450 Guardian, Evolution Vision, Evolution V80, Laser Guard with the correct polarity.
  • To refit, first engage the hooks on top of the filter, slide the filter into its frame and press it down until the tabs click.

Standards and certificates

Filter marking: 16321 VA W2.5 / 4-8 / 9-14 V1 CE. The filter complies with ISO 16321, with classification V1 + TIG to ISO 16321-2, and PPE Regulation (EU) 2016/425. Not suitable for laser welding or oxy-acetylene gas welding.

How does Shade Lock work?

In Shade Lock the filter does not switch between light and dark, it holds the set shade. With the SHADE button you select shade 4 to 14 in 0.5 steps.

How many batteries does the filter need?

Two CR2450 batteries Böhler Welding ADF battery CR2450 Guardian, Evolution Vision, Evolution V80, Laser Guard. The manufacturer states up to 2500 h. Batteries are not included.

The V80 manual lists 87137 and 87135. Which filter should I order?

Order 89069 for the V80 and 89072 for the V80M. Numbers 87137 and 87135 in the V80 manual parts list are Evolution Vision 65 filters with a smaller 65 x 96 mm viewing area; the 2025 Evolution V80 flyer gives 89069 for the V80 and 89072 for the V80M.

Does the filter fit the Evolution V80M Air?

Yes. Filter 89072 fits the Evolution V80M Air helmet and the V80M Air Kit. In the Air version it works the same way: auto-shade with +/-2 fine tuning, shade 2.5, 4-8 and 9-14, 124 x 80 mm viewing area.
