Description
Paton ProMIG-250 (15-4) mig welder – basic information
The Paton ProMIG 250 (15-4) mig welder is designed for semi-automatic MIG/MAG welding in gas and protective mixtures, manual MMA arc welding and argon shielded TIG welding with direct current.
The design of the ProMIG 250 15-4 model (15-kilogram spool, also capable of handling a 5-kilogram spool – 4 roller feeder) provides some of the best protection against external influences on the market. The rated current of this model of 250A at a duty cycle of 70% is a result that allows intensive welding of 6 mm materials without the risk of overheating the device. The source can be separated from the welding wire feeding mechanism for convenience of use, as well as for safety. A distinctive feature of the PATON™ Professional Series semi-automatic machines is the high-quality sealed metallic wire feeder, as well as the existing KZ-2 “EURO” type connector, which has become a standard in the world, allowing the user to change the handle at will in the future.
In an all-electronic system, the control system has absolutely all the resources of the source, within the limits of its full power and regardless of what method is used. The “Professional” series device is designed for industrial use, for the most demanding users.
Features and properties of the Paton ProMIG 250 15-4 mig welding machine
WELDING FUNCTION WITHOUT GAS – SELF-SHIELD WELDWELDWELDING
All PATON mig machines are equipped for welding with self-shielding wire. Such welding, unlike the traditional MIG/MAG welding process, is carried out without the use of shielding gas – but this requires a special welding wire. Such wire produces its own shielding, which helps protect the welding arc.
SOLDERING – INDUCTANCE CONTROL
Paton MIGOMATS of the Standard and PRO series have the possibility of soldering, thanks to the function of changing the inductance in three stages. The inductance control allows to optimize the arc characteristics depending on the thickness of the component to be welded. This function is necessary to change the speed of current flow when changing the arc voltage. The thinner the component to be welded using MIG/MAG, the inductance should be higher (soft arc – less fusion), for thick components vice versa (hard arc – more fusion).
PULSE FUNCTION IN ALL METHODS
– PULSE in the TIG method – full control of the heat introduced into the material – a great feature for welding stainless steel and acid-resistant steel,
– PULSE in the MMA method – easier transfer of material from the electrode to the welding pool, better quality of the welded joint,
– PULSE in the MIG/MAG method – easier detachment of metal droplets from the end of the electrode wire, the possibility of adjusting the parameters of pulsating current. MIG welding with pulsation is useful for welding stainless steels, acid-resistant steels and aluminum alloys. In addition, welding with pulsation provides better performance when soldering CuSi3
MAIN DIFFERENCES BETWEEN STANDARD AND PRO SERIES FLICKER MACHINES:
- duty cycle – the PRO series migomats have a 70% duty cycle, while the Standard series has a 45% cycle at the same welding current. In addition, the PRO series migomata achieve a continuous duty cycle at a higher welding current than the Standard series migomata.
- wire fe eder – the PRO series has a separate wire feeder that handles spools from 15 to 18 kilos. The feeder can be separated from the source for convenience in welding other methods – such as MMA or DC TIG. The PRO series also has 2 roll or 4 roll versions of wire feeders. In the Standard Series flicker machines, the feeder is built into the welder, supports only a spool of up to 5 kilos and always has two rolls.

Main advantages:
- Wide range of adjustable welding parameters:
– MMA method – 1 (basic) + 10 (additional)
– TIG method – 1 (basic) + 10 (additional)
– MIG/MAG method – 2 (basic) + 8 (additional) - Pulsed current welding function, which is additionally programmable – in all welding modes;
- In addition to protection against mains voltage spikes, the devices have a system for stabilizing operation at longer voltage changes in the single-phase power grid and allow the device to work properly for the voltage range from 160 V to 260 V. It is worth remembering that at a minimum voltage of 160 V, welding can be carried out with an electrode with a diameter of no more than Ф 3 mm or semi-automatic welding with a wire with a diameter of no more than Ф 0.8 mm;
- Adapted to the standard electricity grid. Thanks to its high efficiency, the
source provides twice less electricity demand compared to traditional sources; - Automatically adjusts the speed of the fan, which runs at a higher capacity when the device is heated and reduces the speed when the device is not in use. This affects the wear of the fan, reduces the amount of dust in the device and the noise during welding
- Convenience of operation associated with loading the device with nominal current, without
the need for interruptions associated with cooling the device at 25 °C. - High reliability of the device in production conditions with high dust and high
humidity. - Enhanced durability due to impregnation of the electronic system with two layers of high-quality varnish, which ensures the reliability of the product throughout its lifetime.
- The welder has an electronic thermal protection system that protects all heat-generating components of the welding unit from overheating.
- Improved arc glow stability.
- Infinitely adjustable welding parameters.
- Efficiency by using the latest advanced IGBT technology.
