What it is for
Aluminium is soft: a U groove does not bite into the wire like a sharp V groove, so the wire is not flattened and does not jam. Replace it when you change wire or the groove wears.

How many rolls do I need?
SL 4R has four rolls (two driven on SL 4R-2T, four on SL 4R-4T). The price is for 1 pc.
Will a V roll do for aluminium?
Better not: a V groove bites into soft wire. For aluminium use a U roll and a PTFE carbon liner in the torch.
