EWM Taurus 551 Synergic S MM FDW is an inverter MIG/MAG power source for 3 x 400 V, with current from 5 to 550 A. At a 60% duty cycle it gives 550 A, and 420 A it pulls without a break. On top of that MMA, braze welding and the ForceArc, RootArc and SuperPuls processes.
What this machine is for
The machine goes to workshops and plants that weld steel structures, tanks and pipelines. 420 A at a 100% duty cycle means you lay long beads on thick material without breaks for cooling, and the top 550 A at a 60% duty cycle is left for welds with a large cross section.
With wire you join mild and stainless steel, you take braze welding for galvanised sheet, and the MMA mode for repairs with a covered electrode. The S MM FDW version has a separate wire feeder joined to the power source by an interconnection cable, so you set the feeder closer to the part.

What to watch out for
Supply 3 x 400 V and a 32 A fuse, check the connection in your hall before you plug in. The record gives liquid cooling, and the set list has no cooling unit, so for a liquid cooled torch you pick a separate module and watch the coolant level. The interconnection cable is 1.5 m, so the feeder stands right by the power source, and a wider reach needs a longer package. The torch is 4 m, the earth cable 5 m, and that sets the working radius.
