Basic data of the Paton StandardMIG-200 MIG/MAG welder
The digital Paton StandardMIG 200 MIG/MAG MMA/TIG Lift welder is intended for semi-automatic arc welding in the MIG/MAG process, for gas shielded arc welding in the TIG process and for manual arc welding with a covered electrode in MMA, with direct current (DC) and the option of using the PULSE function.
Machines of the "Standard" series are meant for home and semi-industrial use. The StandardMIG 200 holds a 45% duty cycle at its full rated current of 200A without losing output or weld quality. The solid build and simple operation make the machine easy to work with, and despite its small size it gives very good welds. The fully electronic control used in this series avoids the drawbacks typical of multi-function systems. The power source comes set to sensible values, so work can start straight away. For more demanding jobs the machine carries additional functions. A mark of the PATON™ Standard series semi-automatic machines is the high quality wire feeder with extra sealing, together with the KZ-2 central connector of the "EURO" type, which has become a worldwide standard and lets the user fit any MIG/MAG torch of their choice.
Functions and capabilities of the versatile Paton StandardMIG 200 MIG/MAG welder
GASLESS WELDING FUNCTION, WELDING WITH SELF-SHIELDED WIRE
All PATON MIG/MAG machines are prepared for welding with self-shielded wire. Unlike the traditional MIG/MAG process, this kind of welding runs without shielding gas, but it does call for special welding wire. Such wire builds its own shield, which helps protect the welding arc.
BRAZE WELDING, INDUCTANCE CONTROL
Paton MIG/MAG machines of the Standard and PRO series can braze weld thanks to inductance adjustment in three steps. Inductance control makes it possible to match the arc characteristic to the thickness of the welded part. This function is needed to change the rate of current flow when the arc voltage changes. The thinner the part to be welded with MIG/MAG, the higher the inductance should be (soft arc, shallower penetration), and the other way round for thick parts (hard arc, deeper penetration).
PULSE FUNCTION IN EVERY PROCESS
PULSE in the TIG process, full control over the heat put into the material, a very useful function for welding stainless and acid-resistant steel,
PULSE in the MMA process, easier transfer of material from the electrode into the weld pool, better quality of the welded joint,
PULSE in the MIG/MAG process, easier detachment of the metal droplet from the end of the electrode wire, with adjustable parameters of the pulsed current. Pulsed MIG welding is useful on stainless and acid-resistant steels and on aluminium alloys. Welding with pulse also gives better results in braze welding with CuSi3
MAIN DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE STANDARD AND PRO SERIES:
- duty cycle, machines of the Standard series have a 45% duty cycle, while the PRO series has a 70% duty cycle at the same welding current. On top of that, PRO series machines reach a continuous duty cycle at a higher welding current than Standard series machines.
- wire feeder, the PRO series has a separate wire feeder that takes spools from 15 to 18 kilos. The feeder can be detached from the power source for easier welding in other processes, for example MMA or TIG DC. The PRO series also comes in versions with 2-roll or 4-roll wire feeders. In Standard series machines for a 230V supply the feeder is built into the welder, takes only spools up to 5 kilograms and always has two rolls.
Main advantages of the Paton StandardMIG 200 MIG/MAG welder:
- European production
- Electronic thermal protection system that keeps all heat generating parts from overheating
- Reliability thanks to IGBT technology
- Able to run on long extension leads and on a generator
- Welding with pulsed current in every welding process
- Improved stability of the electric arc
-
Switching of the operating mode 2T, 4T, gas purge from the feeder function
- The machines have protection against voltage surges and a work stabilising circuit, which allows correct operation over a voltage range from 160V to 260V
- Half the demand for electrical power compared with traditional power sources
- Optimum fusion and correct bead shape regardless of the welding position
5 year manufacturer warranty for consumers and for companies
Top build quality backed by a 5 year DOOR-to-DOOR manufacturer warranty. Models of the STD series carry a set of design solutions that raise their reliability. These include the sealed and trouble-free wire feeder, the central connector of the KZ-2 EURO type and the built-in voltage stabilising module.
The purchased set contains:
- MIG/MAG welder PATON™ StandardMIG-200
- Electrode holder 3m
- Earth clamp 3m
- Wire feeder rolls 1x (0.6-0.8), 1x (1.0-1.2) V
- Quick coupler for gas
- Cardboard packaging
- User manual
Main advantages:
- Broad adjustment of the welding parameters:
, MMA process, 1 (basic) + 10 (additional)
, TIG process, 1 (basic) + 4 (additional)
, MIG/MAG process, 2 (basic) + 4 (additional) - Welding with pulsed current, which is programmable as well, in all welding modes.
- A protection system against voltage surges.
- Besides the protection against mains voltage surges, a work stabilising system is fitted for larger long-term voltage differences in a single phase mains supply, from 160 V to 260 V. Keep in mind that at the minimum voltage of 160 V you can weld with an electrode no larger than ø3 mm in diameter, or run semi-automatic welding with wire no larger than ø 0.8 mm.
- Suited to a standard mains supply. Thanks to its high efficiency the power source gives half the demand for electrical power compared with traditional power sources.
- Adaptive fan speed, which rises at the start of welding, rises further when the welder is hot and drops when it is cool, which saves the fan and cuts the amount of dust inside the welder.
- Comfortable work thanks to the long loading time at rated current, which allows welding practically without a break with ø4 mm electrodes (for the PSI-200 Standard), for example ANO-/21/36 at a current of 160 A and 200 A at a temperature of 25 °C.
- Higher reliability of the welder in production with heavy dust and high humidity. The microelectronic circuit has been moved into a separate chamber protected by a solid housing.
- Longer life thanks to impregnation of the electronic circuit with two coats of high quality varnish, which keeps the product reliable over its whole service life.
- The welder has an electronic thermal protection system that keeps all heat generating parts of the welding unit from overheating.
- Improved stability of the electric arc.
- Smooth adjustment of the welding parameters.
- Efficiency thanks to the latest advanced IGBT technology.
