Basic data of the Paton StandardMIG 250 MIG/MAG welder
The digital Paton StandardMIG 250 MIG/MAG MMA/TIG Lift welder is intended for semi-automatic arc welding with the MIG/MAG method, for gas shielded arc welding with the TIG method and for manual arc welding with a covered electrode, MMA, with direct current (DC).
Machines of the "Standard" series are meant for home and semi-industrial use. The PSI 250S holds a 45% duty cycle at the full rated current of 250A with no loss of output or quality of work. A solid build and simple operation make the machine easy to work with, and despite its small size it gives very good welds. The fully electronic control used in this series rules out the faults typical of multifunction systems. The welding source comes set to sensible values, so work can start straight away. For more advanced jobs the machine has extra functions. A hallmark of the PATON™ Standard series semi-automatic machines is the high quality wire feeder with extra sealing, together with the integrated KZ-2 connector of the "EURO" type, which has become a worldwide standard and lets the user pick any MIG/MAG torch they like.
Functions and options of the universal Paton StandardMIG 250 MIG/MAG welder
GASLESS WELDING, WELDING WITH SELF-SHIELDED WIRE
All PATON MIG/MAG welders are prepared for welding with self-shielded wire. Unlike the usual MIG/MAG process, this kind of welding runs without shielding gas, but it does need a special welding wire. That wire builds its own shield, which helps to protect the welding arc. Self-shielded wire suited to PATON welders can be bought here, and 5 kg wire spools fit every wire feeder.
BRAZE WELDING, INDUCTANCE CONTROL
Paton MIG/MAG welders of the Standard and PRO series can braze weld, thanks to inductance adjustment in three steps. Inductance control lets you match the arc characteristic to the thickness of the workpiece. This function is needed to change the rate of current flow when the arc voltage changes. The thinner the part welded with MIG/MAG, the higher the inductance should be (soft arc, shallower penetration), and for thick parts the opposite applies (hard arc, deeper penetration).
PULSE FUNCTION
- PULSE in the TIG method, full control over the heat put into the material, a very useful function for welding stainless and acid resistant steel,
- PULSE in the MMA method, easier transfer of material from the electrode into the weld pool and better joint quality,
- PULSE in the MIG/MAG method, easier detachment of the metal droplet from the tip of the electrode wire, with adjustable pulse current settings. Pulsed MIG welding is useful on stainless steel, acid resistant steel and aluminium alloys. Pulse also gives better results in CuSi3 braze welding.
The machine has synergic control in pulse mode, which picks the welding parameters automatically and keeps the arc stable and the weld quality high.
MAIN DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE STANDARD AND PRO SERIES:
- duty cycle, Standard series welders have a 45% duty cycle, while the PRO series has a 70% duty cycle at the same welding current. PRO series welders also reach a continuous duty cycle at a higher welding current than Standard series welders.
- wire feeder, the PRO series has a separate wire feeder that takes spools from 15 to 18 kilos. The feeder can be detached from the power source for easier welding with other methods, for example MMA or TIG DC. The PRO series also comes with 2-roll or 4-roll feeders. In Standard series welders on a 230V supply the feeder is built into the machine, takes only spools up to 5 kilos and always has two rolls.
Main advantages of the Paton StandardMIG 250 MIG/MAG welder:
- European production
- Electronic thermal protection system that keeps every heat generating part from overheating
- Reliability based on IGBT technology
- Runs on long extension leads and with a generator
- Welding with pulsed current in every method
- Improved stability of the electric arc
-
2T and 4T mode switching, gas purge from the feeder controls
- The machines have protection against voltage surges and a stabilising circuit, so they work correctly over a voltage range from 160V to 260V
- Half the electricity demand compared with traditional power sources
- Correct fusion and bead shape in any welding position
5 year manufacturer warranty for consumers and for companies
Top build quality confirmed by a 5 year DOOR-to-DOOR manufacturer warranty. Models of the STD series use a set of innovative design solutions that raise their reliability. These include a sealed, trouble free wire feeder, the integrated KZ-2 EURO connector and a built in voltage stabilisation module.
