The ST 4000 U/D is a liquid-cooled TIG torch, 4 m long, with U/D buttons for current control from the handle. At 100% duty cycle it carries 350 A DC and 270 A AC, the highest rating among the ST torches in the Böhler Welding price list. It takes electrodes from 0.5 to 4.0 mm. In this length Böhler includes it in the liquid-cooled packages of the TERRA NX 400 TLH, URANOS NX 4000/5000 AC/DC and URANOS NX 4000/5000 GSM.
Who it is for
For welders who work long hours at high currents. The U/D buttons change the current without leaving the weld. The torch needs a cooling unit and CL10 coolant; the price list does not specify it for the URANOS NX 2200 or TERRA NX 270 TLH.

FAQ
U/D, FX U/D or DigiTig?
All ST 4000 versions are rated at 350 A DC and 270 A AC at 100% in the price list. The ST 4000 FX U/D 4 m has a flexible neck and fits the same machines as the U/D. The DigiTig and FX DigiTig versions are assigned to URANOS NX only, without the TERRA NX 320/400 TLH.
Which consumables fit the ST 4000 U/D?
Standard 17/18/26 series parts: collets 1.0 to 4.0 mm, collet bodies in the same sizes, ceramic nozzles from No. 4 (6.4 mm) to No. 12 (19 mm) and a long or short back cap. Match the collet and collet body to the electrode diameter.
4 m or 8 m?
The 4 m length is enough at a bench or close to the machine, and the torch is easier to coil up. If you weld further from the power source, for example on a large structure, choose the ST 4000 U/D 8 m.
