Who it is for

  • Grinding and work where particles and dust fly: the grinding visor covers the whole face, not just the eyes.
  • People who get grinding particles behind their safety glasses: the manufacturer names exactly this problem, hence the large Big Vision screen.
  • Workshops and production halls, operating temperature -5 to +55 °C at up to 70 % relative humidity.
  • Welders who grind between welds and want lighter protection than a welding helmet.

What makes the Big Vision grinding visor different

  • 180 x 160 mm grinding screen, described by the manufacturer as an unrestricted field of vision.
  • Weight 370 g.
  • Impact and heat resistant nylon shell in matt black.
  • Permanent protection against medium energy impact (class B), UV radiation, heat and sparks.
  • Comfort headgear as on the Guardian helmets: size set with the rear knob (press and turn), height with the top straps, depth and angle with the side knobs.
  • The side knobs also set the friction that holds the shell in the raised and lowered position.
  • CE, UKCA, ANSI and CSA certification.

In the box

  • Big Vision grinding visor with 180 x 160 mm screen, assembled (remove the protective films from both sides of the screen before first use)

Frequently asked questions

Can I weld with the Big Vision?

No. The manual states plainly that the screen offers no light protection. For welding and grinding in one helmet choose a model with flip-up filter, such as the Guardian 62F (Böhler Welding Guardian 62F auto-darkening flip-up welding helmet) or Evolution Vision 65F (Böhler Welding Evolution Vision 65F auto-darkening flip-up welding helmet).

Do I need to wear glasses underneath?

The manual recommends impact resistant safety glasses and ear protection when working with the Big Vision. You can use, for example, the Eyewear Clear Pro glasses (Böhler Welding Eyewear Clear Pro anti-fog safety glasses) with anti-fog coating.

How often should I replace the screen?

The screen is a consumable. Replace it when it is cracked, damaged or covered with grinding spatter so that your view is impaired. It takes the Böhler Welding grinding visor Big Vision, Big Vision Air (2 pcs), the same as the Big Vision Air.

The screen fogs up, what can I do?

Check that the screen sits flat and correctly in the shell: the manual gives this as the condition to prevent fogging. Clean it only with mild soap and water, without alcohol or solvents.

Is there a version with air supply?

Yes. The Big Vision Air (Böhler Welding Big Vision Air grinding visor for PAPR powered air systems) has the same 180 x 160 mm screen, and the extra cost pays for the air connection: with a PAPR unit you breathe filtered air, which also protects you from grinding dust. Complete kits are the Big Vision Air Kit with Guardian Air (Böhler Welding Big Vision Air Kit Guardian Air, grinding visor with Guardian Air PAPR) or with Evolution Air (Böhler Welding Big Vision Air Kit Evolution Air, grinding visor with Evolution Air PAPR).
