Frequently asked questions

Am I protected from the arc with the flip-up raised?

No. According to the manual the eyes are protected from welding radiation only while the flip-up with the filter is down and covers the field of view. Always lower it before striking the arc.

Which grinding visor do I need and how do I change it?

It takes the Böhler Welding grinding visor Guardian 62F, 62F Air, 50FM Air (2 pcs), the same as the Guardian 62F Air and Guardian 50FM Air. Push the old visor out from the back and load the new one from the front.

Are the filter and lenses the same as in the Guardian 62?

Yes. The Guardian 62F uses the Guardian 62 ADF with the same specification, and the parts list names the same filter (Böhler Welding ADF auto-darkening filter Guardian 62, 62F), the same inner lens (32433) and the same filter frame (32442). If you do not grind, the less expensive Guardian 62 (Böhler Welding Guardian 62 auto-darkening welding helmet) is enough; with the Guardian 62F you pay extra for the flip-up front with the filter and the clear grinding visor underneath.

Can I TIG weld at low current?

Yes, within the manufacturer's limits: the Guardian 62 filter is suitable for TIG above 5 A. Keep the sensors clean and facing the arc, because at angles of 45° or more the light does not reach them.

Is there a Guardian 62F version for air supply?

Yes, as the Guardian 62F Air Kit (Böhler Welding Guardian 62F Air Kit, flip-up welding helmet with Evolution Air PAPR): Guardian 62F Air helmet and Evolution Air system in a bag. The Guardian 62F is not suitable for laser welding.
