The Big Vision Air Kit Guardian Air is a grinding set with respiratory protection: the Big Vision Air grinding visor with a 180 x 160 mm screen and the Guardian Air PAPR. The blower unit supplies 180-220 l/min of air cleaned by a P R SL filter, and the combination reaches class TH3 to EN 12941. The visor weighs 545 g including the face seal.

Who it is for
- Grinding and weld cleaning when spatter and dust get behind your safety glasses: the visor covers the eyes and the whole face.
- Work in grinding dust for the whole shift: the P R SL filter captures solid particles and liquid aerosols.
- Grinders working next to welders: Guardian Air is also certified with the Air series welding helmets.
- A light combination: 545 g on the head and 870 g on the belt.
Big Vision Air does not protect against arc light, so it is not for welding. The manual recommends wearing impact-resistant safety glasses underneath, for example Böhler Welding Eyewear Clear safety glasses. Do not use the kit in tanks, pipes or other enclosed places without ventilation, when there is less than 19.5 % oxygen, in an explosive atmosphere or in strong wind.
What makes the Big Vision Air Kit Guardian Air different
- 180 x 160 mm screen without a welding filter, resistant to medium energy impact (B to EN 166), sparks and heat.
- Shell made of impact- and heat-resistant nylon, headgear with sweatbands as in the Guardian helmets.
- A knob above the screen sets how much air is directed to the forehead.
- Air flow 180-220 l/min in 6 levels; the +/- buttons respond after 2 s.
- While the filter collects dust and the battery runs down, a microprocessor still keeps the set air flow.
- Visual and audible alarm below 170 l/min and a visual alarm for a low battery.
- Li-Ion battery 7.4 V, 5200 mAh: up to 8 h at the lowest level, charging 4 to 6 h; the filter cover opens without tools.

Frequently asked questions
Can I weld with the Big Vision Air?
No. The visor has no welding filter and does not protect against arc light. To weld and grind in one helmet, choose a kit with a flip-up ADF, for example the Böhler Welding Guardian 50FM Air Kit, flip-up welding helmet with Guardian Air PAPR.
Kit with Guardian Air or with Evolution Air?
The visor is the same in both. The Böhler Welding Big Vision Air Kit Evolution Air, grinding visor with Evolution Air PAPR has the Evolution Air unit: you pay extra for up to 240 l/min, up to 14 h of work, a vibrating alarm and the option of A1B1E1 P R SL gas filters, but the unit weighs 1120 g instead of 870 g. If you already have a Guardian Air unit, the visor on its own, Böhler Welding Big Vision Air grinding visor for PAPR powered air systems, is enough.
When should I replace the grinding screen?
When it is cracked, scratched or covered with spatter to the point that you see less. The screen is a consumable, the replacement is the Böhler Welding grinding visor Big Vision, Big Vision Air (2 pcs), and the visor is never used without a screen fitted.
How long does the Guardian Air battery take to charge?
4 to 6 h with the universal charger, which then keeps the battery topped up. Run a new battery flat in the system first and charge it for 16 h.
