The Böhler Welding Safe Vision Air is a safety helmet with a clear grinding visor and SNR 34 ear defenders, prepared for a PAPR powered air system. It is the same design as the Safe Guard 62F Air but without the ADF welding filter, which is why the manufacturer intends it for grinding and cutting. You buy the helmet with visor only, without a unit: the manual requires an approved Böhler Welding air delivery system.

Who it is for
For grinders, fitters and welders preparing parts who must wear a safety helmet, work in dust and noise and want to breathe filtered air. The helmet protects against falling objects, and the visor protects eyes and face against particles and dust when grinding as well as against medium energy impact, UV radiation, heat and sparks. The visor does not protect against arc light, so for welding you need the Safe Guard 62F Air.
Which blower unit it works with
The Safe Vision Air is prepared for Böhler Welding air systems, and the manual requires an approved air delivery system of this brand. You can choose from:
- Böhler Welding Evolution Air PAPR blower unit, complete kit with filters: airflow 180 to 240 l/min in 6 levels, up to 14 h on the 7800 mAh battery, P R SL or A1B1E1 gas filters.
- Böhler Welding Guardian Air PAPR blower unit, complete kit with filter: airflow 180 to 220 l/min in 6 levels, up to 8 h on the 5200 mAh battery, 870 g.
- Böhler Welding Supplied Air compressed air regulator for air-fed helmets, complete kit: compressed air supply at 3 to 8 bar, airflow 180 to 220 l/min in 7 levels.
We will choose the unit together with you: the Safe Vision Air documentation does not assign a respiratory protection class to a specific unit, so please contact us before buying a unit. Units are listed in the Powered air systems category.
What makes the Safe Vision Air different
- Safety helmet to EN 397+A1:2012 and ANSI/ISEA Z89.1-2014 (R2019) Type I, Class G.
- Clear grinding visor to EN 166:2001 covering the whole face.
- Integrated SNR 34 ear defenders mounted on the helmet.
- Face seal that fits under the chin and a bayonet hose connection in the helmet's air duct.
- Headband adjusted with the rear ratchet: clockwise to tighten, anticlockwise to loosen.
- In-use life of up to 5 years, date of manufacture (quarter and year) moulded into the shell.
- Same shell, face seal and ear defenders as the Safe Guard 62F Air, so the parts are shared.
In the box

The box contains no blower unit, filters, battery pack, hose or belt. Spawlab is an authorised Böhler Welding distributor in Poland: you buy with a VAT invoice and we ship by courier from Krotoszyn, also to the European Union.
Consumables and spare parts
- Böhler Welding grinding visor Safe Vision Air, Safe Guard 62F Air (2 pcs): replacement grinding visor when it is scratched, cracked or covered with spatter.
- Böhler Welding face seal Safe Vision Air, Safe Guard 62F Air: face seal, shared with the Safe Guard 62F Air.
- Böhler Welding SNR 34 ear defenders for Safe Guard 62F Air and Safe Vision Air: SNR 34 ear defenders, right and left.
Check the visor before each use: scratches, cracks and pits reduce protection, and the manual says to replace damaged visors immediately.

Frequently asked questions
Can I weld in the Safe Vision Air?
No. The clear visor does not protect against arc light. For welding choose the Böhler Welding Safe Guard 62F Air safety helmet with welding flip for PAPR powered air systems: the same helmet and visor plus a flip-up ADF with shades 5-8 and 9-13, which is what the extra cost buys.
Can I use the helmet without the air supply?
No. The manual warns that with the unit switched off little or no respiratory protection remains, and carbon dioxide builds up quickly while oxygen drops under the visor. The face seal must also fit tightly around face and chin.
How long can the helmet be used?
Up to 5 years from the date of manufacture moulded into the shell. Replace a helmet that has taken a severe impact even if no damage is visible: the shell absorbs energy by being partly destroyed.
Should I wear safety glasses under the helmet?
Yes. The manual recommends safety glasses with side shields under the helmet and hearing protection when using this product; the SNR 34 ear defenders are already on the helmet.
Can the ear defenders be replaced?
Yes. The SNR 34 ear defenders are available as a spare part, right and left as a set. They also fit the Safe Guard 62F Air.
