Who it is for
For people who grind, prepare edges and clean welds in dust and fumes and want to breathe filtered air. The visor protects eyes and face against particles, sparks, UV radiation and heat at medium energy impact. The Big Vision Air has no welding filter and offers no protection against arc light, so it is not for welding.

Standards and certificates
The shell is marked VA EN166 B CE, the visor CE VA 1 B EN 166, in line with Regulation (EU) 2016/425; certification was carried out by the notified body ECS GmbH (1883). With Guardian Air the system meets EN 12941 class TH3, with Evolution Air class TH3 P R SL, and with Supplied Air EN 14594:2018 class 4A.

Frequently asked questions
Can I weld in the Big Vision Air?
No. The manual states plainly that the visor offers no protection against arc light. For welding with air supply choose an auto-darkening Air helmet, for example the Guardian 62F Air or the Evolution Vision 65F Air with a grinding visor under the filter.
How does it differ from the Big Vision, and which kit should I choose?
The Böhler Welding Big Vision grinding visor has the same 180 x 160 mm visor and weighs 370 g but has no face seal or air duct connector, so it works without an air supply. The Böhler Welding Big Vision Air Kit Guardian Air, grinding visor with Guardian Air PAPR kit has the lighter Guardian Air unit (870 g, up to 8 h), the Böhler Welding Big Vision Air Kit Evolution Air, grinding visor with Evolution Air PAPR has Evolution Air (up to 14 h, A1B1E1 gas filters). At a workstation with compressed air choose Supplied Air.
When should I replace the visor?
When it is cracked, damaged or so covered with grinding spatter that your view is impaired. Replacement visors come in packs of 2.
Can I use it without the air supply?
No. The Big Vision Air manual warns that with the blower switched off little or no respiratory protection remains, and carbon dioxide builds up quickly while oxygen drops under the head top.
How do I clean the visor?
The manual recommends mild soap and water on a wetted cloth and a dry cotton cloth for drying. Do not apply cleaner directly to the lens; alcohol and other solvents are strictly prohibited.
