Who it is for
- Grinding and weld cleaning in dust: the visor covers the eyes and the whole face, and the P R SL filters clean the air.
- Dust together with gases and vapours: with A1B1E1 P R SL filters fitted the kit stays in class TH3.
- Long shifts: up to 14 h per battery at the lowest level.
- Workshops with Air series welding helmets: Evolution Air is certified with them as well.
Big Vision Air has no welding filter, so you do not use it for welding; the manual recommends impact-resistant safety glasses underneath, for example Böhler Welding Eyewear Clear safety glasses. The kit is not used in closed tanks and ducts without ventilation, at oxygen levels below 19.5 %, in explosive atmospheres or in strong wind.
What makes the Big Vision Air Kit Evolution Air different
- The 180 x 160 mm screen (no welding filter) withstands medium energy impact (class B to EN 166), sparks and heat.
- A knob above the screen sets how much air reaches the forehead.
- Air flow of 180-240 l/min with P R SL filters and 180-200 l/min with A1B1E1 P R SL filters, class TH3 in both cases.
- 6 blower levels and a microprocessor that compensates for filter clogging and falling battery voltage.
- When the air flow drops below 170 l/min, the unit warns with light, sound and vibration.
- Li-Ion battery 7.4 V, 7800 mAh: 14 h at the lowest and 11 h at the highest level.
- Part of the unit weight (1120 g with battery and filters) is taken by the shoulder harness.

Can the Big Vision Air replace a welding helmet?
No, it is a grinding visor only, without protection against arc light. If you weld and grind in turns, choose a kit with a flip-up ADF and grinding visor, for example the Böhler Welding Evolution Vision 65F Air Kit, flip-up welding helmet with Evolution Air PAPR.
What do I pay extra for compared with the Guardian Air kit?
The visor is the same, the difference is the blower unit. Compared with the Böhler Welding Big Vision Air Kit Guardian Air, grinding visor with Guardian Air PAPR you get up to 240 l/min instead of 220 l/min, a battery for 14 h instead of 8 h, a vibrating alarm and the option of A1B1E1 P R SL gas filters.
