The Guardian 62 welding helmet is an auto-darkening helmet from Böhler Welding for MIG/MAG, TIG and MMA welders who want light head protection and a clear view of the weld pool. The ADF auto-darkening filter offers a 62 x 98 mm viewing area, light state shade 4 and two dark ranges: shade 5 to 9 and shade 9 to 13. The complete helmet weighs 480 g and the filter is rated 1/1/1/2 to EN 379. The manufacturer calls it the expert's choice and recommends it mainly for MAG and TIG welding.

Who it is for
- MAG and TIG welding: the Guardian 62 filter is approved for TIG at currents above 5 A.
- MIG/MAG, stick welding (MMA), TIG on inverter power sources, AC/DC pulse welding and work under argon and helium shielding: this is the application list from the instruction manual.
- Mixed work with grinding: an external switch on the shell sets the filter to grind mode, in which it does not darken.
- Daily work in workshops and production halls at -5 to +55 °C, the operating range given in the manual.

Frequently asked questions
Which front cover lens fits the Guardian 62?
The standard lens is Böhler Welding front cover lens Guardian 50, 62, 62F, Laser Guard (10 pcs), the reinforced HD version is Böhler Welding front cover lens Heavy-Duty Guardian 50, 62, 62F, Laser Guard (5 pcs). Both also fit the Guardian 50 and Guardian 62F, so one stock covers several models.
Can I TIG weld at low current?
The Guardian 62 filter is suitable for TIG above 5 A. With a weak arc, turn up the sensitivity and keep the sensors clean and facing the arc: at angles of 45° or more the arc light does not reach them.
Is the Guardian 62 suitable for grinding?
Yes. The external switch activates grind mode and the filter stops darkening. If you grind a lot, consider the Guardian 62F (Böhler Welding Guardian 62F auto-darkening flip-up welding helmet): for the extra cost you get the same filter on a flip-up front and a clear grinding visor underneath, so you grind and inspect the weld without taking the helmet off.
How do I change the battery and where is the on/off switch?
The filter runs on a CR2450 battery (Böhler Welding ADF battery CR2450 Guardian, Evolution Vision, Evolution V80, Laser Guard), reached by removing the cover on the inside of the grind switch. There is no on/off switch: the filter shuts off by itself after 15 minutes without use.
Can I connect an air supply to the Guardian 62?
No, this version is not prepared for air. For work with powered air purifying respirators choose the Guardian 62 Air Kit (Böhler Welding Guardian 62 Air Kit, welding helmet with Evolution Air PAPR): Guardian 62 Air helmet and Evolution Air system in a bag. The Guardian 62 is not suitable for laser welding; use the Laser Guard (Böhler Welding Laser Guard helmet for laser and hybrid welding) for that.
