The Guardian 62 Air Kit is a ready-to-use set for eye, face and respiratory protection: the Guardian 62 Air auto-darkening welding helmet and the Evolution Air powered air purifying respirator (PAPR) in a blue Böhler bag. The belt-mounted blower unit supplies 180-240 l/min of air filtered through P R SL filters to the helmet, and the complete system meets class TH3 to EN 12941. The ADF has a 62 x 98 mm viewing area and shades DIN 5-9 and 9-13.

Who it is for
- MIG/MAG, TIG and MMA welding in a workshop where welding fume stays in the breathing zone for the whole shift.
- Stainless steel, galvanised sheet and aluminium: the P R SL filters stop solid particles and liquid aerosols.
- Low-current TIG: the Guardian 62 ADF is rated for TIG above 5 A.
- Welding alternating with grinding: you select grind mode with the switch on the outside of the shell (3 positions: DIN 9-13, DIN 5-9, grind).
The kit is not for tanks, pipes, ducts or other enclosed, unventilated spaces, for air with less than 19.5 % oxygen, for explosive atmospheres or for work in strong wind.
What makes the Guardian 62 Air Kit different
- 6 blower levels, 180-240 l/min with P R SL filters; you change the level with the +/- buttons held for 2 s, so it cannot shift by accident.
- The unit electronics hold the set air flow even when the filters clog and the battery voltage drops.
- Below 170 l/min a visual, audible and vibrating alarm; a low battery is signalled by a visual alarm.
- Li-Ion battery 7.4 V, 7800 mAh, enough for 14 h at the lowest and 11 h at the highest level.
- A1B1E1 P R SL gas filters with activated carbon as an option: 180-200 l/min, class TH2 with the Guardian 62 Air.

Which version should I choose: Guardian 62 Air Kit, 62F Air Kit or 50M Air Kit?
The Böhler Welding Guardian 62F Air Kit, flip-up welding helmet with Evolution Air PAPR has the same Evolution Air unit and the same ADF; the extra cost buys a flip-up filter with a clear grinding visor underneath. The Böhler Welding Guardian 50M Air Kit, welding helmet with Guardian Air PAPR has the lighter Guardian Air unit (870 g instead of 1120 g, up to 8 h instead of 14 h, no gas filter option) and a helmet with a 50 x 100 mm viewing area and a single DIN 9-13 range.
Does the Guardian 62 Air Kit protect against gases?
Not as standard: the P R SL filters stop solid particles and liquid aerosols. If there are gases in the workshop, fit a pair of Böhler Welding A1B1E1 P R SL gas filter Evolution Air (2 pcs) filters (A: organic vapours with a boiling point above 65 °C, B: inorganic gases, E: sulphur dioxide and other acid gases). With the Guardian 62 Air helmet the system is then class TH2 at 180-200 l/min.
How long does the 7800 mAh battery take to charge?
The universal charger charges it in 8 to 9 h and then switches to trickle mode. The first time, run the system until the battery is empty and then charge it for 16 h. If you work two shifts, add a second battery Böhler Welding heavy-duty battery 7800 mAh Evolution Air, Guardian Air.
Can I work with a beard?
The face seal must sit tight against the face. According to the manual, a beard or long hair along the seal line lowers the protection factor of the whole system.
