The Guardian 62F Air Kit combines the Guardian 62F Air helmet with flip-up filter and the Evolution Air powered air purifying respirator (PAPR) in a blue Böhler bag. With the ADF lifted you grind through the clear visor, while the blower unit keeps supplying 180-240 l/min of air cleaned by P R SL filters. The system reaches class TH3 to EN 12941, the ADF has a 62 x 98 mm viewing area and shades DIN 5-9 and 9-13.

Who it is for
- MIG/MAG, TIG and MMA welding with weld grinding: you lift the filter while the helmet and the air supply stay in place.
- Stainless steel, galvanised sheet and aluminium: two P R SL filters clean the air of particles and aerosols.
- Low-current TIG: the Guardian 62 ADF works for TIG above 5 A.
- Long shifts without a half mask: the 7800 mAh battery lasts up to 14 h at the lowest level.
The blower filters ambient air, so the manual rules out closed tanks and ducts without air exchange, oxygen below 19.5 %, explosive zones and strong wind.
What makes the Guardian 62F Air Kit different
- Flip-up ADF with a clear grinding visor underneath.
- Guardian 62 ADF: 4 arc sensors, light state DIN 4, ranges DIN 5-9 and 9-13, optical class 1/1/1/2 to EN 379, True Blue Color and a grind mode switch on the outside of the shell.
- Air flow of 180-240 l/min with P R SL filters, 6 levels changed with the +/- buttons after holding them for 2 s.
- Constant air flow whatever the filter load and battery state: a microprocessor in the unit regulates it.
- Below 170 l/min the unit warns with light, sound and vibration; a low battery triggers a visual alarm.
- Li-Ion battery 7.4 V, 7800 mAh: 14 h at the lowest and 11 h at the highest level.
- Optional A1B1E1 P R SL gas filters: 180-200 l/min, class TH2 with this helmet.
- The shoulder harness in the kit moves part of the unit weight (1120 g) onto your shoulders.

Frequently asked questions
How do I grind with the Guardian 62F Air?
You can keep the filter down and set the switch on the outside of the shell to grind mode, or lift the filter and work through the clear grinding visor. The air supply runs unchanged either way, and a worn visor is replaced with the Böhler Welding grinding visor Guardian 62F, 62F Air, 50FM Air (2 pcs).
What do I pay extra for compared with the 62 Air Kit, and how does the 50FM Air Kit differ?
Compared with the Böhler Welding Guardian 62 Air Kit, welding helmet with Evolution Air PAPR, only the helmet is different: you pay for the flip-up filter and the grinding visor, while the blower unit and the ADF are the same. The Böhler Welding Guardian 50FM Air Kit, flip-up welding helmet with Guardian Air PAPR also has a flip-up filter, but the lighter Guardian Air unit (870 g, up to 8 h, no gas filters) and a 50 x 100 mm viewing area instead of 62 x 98 mm.
What should I do when the unit raises an alarm?
The first signal means the unit cannot hold the set level and has dropped one level by itself. When the air flow falls below 170 l/min a second alarm sounds: stop work, leave the hazard zone and change the filter or the battery. Never work with the unit switched off, because carbon dioxide builds up quickly inside the helmet.
Can I connect the helmet from the kit to another air supply?
Yes. The Guardian 62F Air is also certified with the Böhler Welding Guardian Air PAPR blower unit, complete kit with filter unit (class TH3 P R SL) and with the Böhler Welding Supplied Air compressed air regulator for air-fed helmets, complete kit compressed air regulator (class 4A to EN 14594). The helmet on its own is available as Böhler Welding Guardian 62F Air flip-up welding helmet for PAPR powered air systems.
