Evolution Air is the Böhler Welding PAPR system as a complete kit, without helmet. The belt-mounted unit draws in air, cleans it in two P R SL filters and feeds it through the hose to the helmet: 180-240 l/min in 6 levels, class TH3 to EN 12941. The 7800 mAh battery lasts up to 14 h at the lowest level.

The manual excludes: enclosed, unventilated tanks, pipes and ducts, air with less than 19.5 % oxygen, explosive atmospheres and strong wind.
What makes the Evolution Air different
- Air flow of 180-240 l/min with P R SL filters in 6 levels; the +/- buttons change the level only after being held for 2 s.
- A microprocessor regulates the blower so that the air flow does not drop as the filters clog and the battery weakens.
- Visual, audible and vibrating alarm at air flow below 170 l/min and a visual alarm for a low battery.
- Li-Ion battery 7.4 V, 7800 mAh: up to 14 h at the lowest level and 11 h at the highest.
- Optional A1B1E1 P R SL gas filters with activated carbon: 180-200 l/min, class TH2 or TH3 depending on the helmet.
- The shoulder harness moves part of the unit weight (1120 g with battery and filters) from the belt to the shoulders.
- The two main filters screw in by hand, no tools needed; the pre-filter is a disc under the filter cover.

Frequently asked questions
Does Evolution Air fit my helmet?
It fits the Böhler Welding Air series helmets with face seal listed above. A standard helmet cannot be connected, and the filters are not fitted on the helmet but in the unit.
Evolution Air or Guardian Air?
The Böhler Welding Guardian Air PAPR blower unit, complete kit with filter is lighter (870 g instead of 1120 g) and is enough when you protect yourself against particles and aerosols. With Evolution Air you pay for up to 240 l/min instead of 220 l/min, a 7800 mAh battery for 14 h instead of 5200 mAh for 8 h, a vibrating alarm and the option of A1B1E1 P R SL gas filters. Both units are class TH3 to EN 12941.
How do I prepare the battery for work?
Before first use, run the system until the battery is flat and charge it for 16 h. After that the universal charger charges it in 8 to 9 h and switches to trickle mode. For two-shift work add a second battery Böhler Welding heavy-duty battery 7800 mAh Evolution Air, Guardian Air.
