The Böhler Welding Evolution V80 Air is an auto-darkening welding helmet prepared for the Evolution Air PAPR system. Its ADF has a UHD display with a 124 x 80 mm viewing area, light state shade 2.5 and ranges 4-8 and 9-14 adjustable in 0.5 steps. You buy the helmet only, without a blower unit: to work with it you need the Evolution Air unit or the ready Evolution V80 Air Kit.

The Böhler Welding Evolution V80 auto-darkening welding helmet has the same filter and 124 x 80 mm viewing area but no face seal or hose connection, so it works without an air supply. The ADF is marked 16321 VA W2.5/4-8/9-14 V1 CE to ISO 16321, the shell 16321 VA W15 E HM 1-M CE, the cover lenses EN 166 1 B, in line with Regulation (EU) 2016/425. With Evolution Air the helmet forms a respiratory protection system to EN 12941 class TH3 P R SL, and TH3 A1B1E1 P R SL with gas filters.

Frequently asked questions
Does the Evolution V80 Air work with Guardian Air or Supplied Air?
EN 12941 certification covers the combination with Evolution Air (TH3 P R SL). Guardian Air and Supplied Air do not have the V80 Air on their lists of certified helmets, so choose Evolution Air or the Böhler Welding Evolution V80 Air Kit, welding helmet with Evolution Air PAPR kit.
Can I grind in it?
Yes. The GRIND button on the side of the helmet switches grind mode on and off. The helmet has no flip-up filter: when grinding you look through the filter in its 2.5 light state.
How long do the filter batteries last?
The filter runs on 2 replaceable CR2450 batteries rated for up to 2500 h of operation. After 30 minutes without use the filter goes into standby.
Can I use the helmet without the air supply?
No. The Evolution Air manual warns that with the unit switched off carbon dioxide builds up quickly under the helmet, oxygen drops and little or no respiratory protection remains.
Is it suitable for laser or gas welding?
No. The Evolution V80 manual excludes laser welding and oxy-acetylene gas welding. For laser welding choose the Böhler Welding Laser Guard Air laser and hybrid welding helmet for PAPR powered air systems.
