The A1B1E1 P R SL gas filter is a combined filter for the Böhler Welding Evolution Air powered air-purifying respirator: it adds a gas layer to the P R SL particle filter. Use it where gases and vapours are present in the air besides welding fume. Each pack holds 2 filters, one set for the twin-filter unit.

Who it is for
For Evolution Air users exposed to gases and vapours together with particles. The filter manual requires the type and concentration of contaminants to be known and an oxygen level of at least 19.5 %. Do not use it in unventilated spaces (manholes, containers, pipelines) or in explosive atmospheres. Guardian Air and Supplied Air do not work with this filter.

Fitting and replacing the A1B1E1 P R SL gas filter
Unscrew the filter anticlockwise until it comes free of the unit. Check the new one for damage and screw it in by hand until tight. Always change both filters together and never mix filter types in the unit. Once the pack is opened, the filter may be used for 6 months at most; the storage period in the sealed pack is shown by a pictogram on the filter. Store at 0 to +40 °C and up to 75 % humidity, and dispose of used filters as hazardous waste.
Caution when welding: near open flame and flying hot particles the filter may catch fire. Heavy vapours can collect close to the floor.

Frequently asked questions
Can I fit one gas filter and one P R SL filter?
No. All filters in the unit must be of the same type, and both gas filters are changed at the same time.
Why is the airflow lower with gas filters?
Each gas filter is certified up to 100 l/min, so the unit delivers 180 to 200 l/min with them instead of 240 l/min.
Does it fit Guardian Air?
No. The filter manual allows only the certified Evolution Air system; Guardian Air works with the P R SL filter only.
