The P R SL particle filter for Evolution Air is the main filter of this Böhler Welding powered air-purifying respirator (PAPR). It stops dust and fume from welding and grinding, and with the Evolution Air blower unit the system meets the highest protection class TH3 to EN 12941 (99.8 % particle-free air). Each pack holds 4 filters; part number 88452 replaces the former 57106 and 57120.

Who it is for
For welders and grinders who wear a helmet with air supply on the Evolution Air unit. The filter does not stop organic vapours and gases; for those you need the A1B1E1 P R SL gas filter. Do not use the system in tanks, pipes or channels, or where the oxygen content is below 19.5 %.

Fitting and replacing the particle filter for Evolution Air
Evolution Air has two round filter seats, so a pack of 4 gives two sets. Before fitting, check that the filter housing and seal are intact, then screw the filter in by hand until tight. The pre-filter, spark arrestor and filter cover go on top of the filter.
The manual limits a main filter to 2 weeks or 90 hours of use, whichever is the greater, and the warranty requires a change at least every 2 weeks. Replace a damaged or clogged filter sooner: when the low-flow alarm (below 170 l/min) persists after changing the pre-filter. Never clean or reuse filters.

Frequently asked questions
How often should I change the P R SL filter?
After 2 weeks or 90 working hours at the latest, whichever is the greater. In dusty conditions it clogs sooner: if the airflow alarm persists after a new pre-filter, change the main filters.
Does this filter protect against gases?
No. Particle filters do not stop organic vapours and gases. For gases and vapours use the Böhler Welding A1B1E1 P R SL gas filter Evolution Air (2 pcs), which works with Evolution Air only.
Can I fit one P R SL filter and one gas filter?
No. All filters fitted in the unit at the same time must be of the same type.
