The universal PAPR charger is a microprocessor-controlled charger for the Li-Ion batteries of Böhler Welding powered air-purifying respirators. It comes with the Evolution Air and Guardian Air kits. It works on 100 to 240 V (50/60 Hz) and delivers 8.4 V at a rated current of 1500 mA.

Who it is for
For Evolution Air and Guardian Air users who need a second charger, for example for a spare battery, or replace a damaged one. The unit manuals allow only a charger approved by the manufacturer; any other risks fire or explosion and voids the warranty.

How to charge with the universal PAPR charger
First connect the charger plug to the battery (the socket is on its back) or to the unit with the battery fitted, and only then plug the charger into the mains. During charging the charger and battery may warm up to 50 °C. When finished, unplug the charger from the mains first, then disconnect the plug. Charge indoors, away from damp and explosive atmospheres.

No. For battery 87598 the Evolution Air manual requires the Böhler Welding PAPR quick charger for the quick-charge battery Evolution Air, Guardian Air.
Can I charge the battery in the unit?
Yes. Connect the plug to the unit with the battery fitted or directly to the battery.
How do I know the battery is full?
The red LED is on while charging. When the green one lights up, the battery is charged and the charger switches to trickle charging.
