The Guardian 50FM Air Kit combines the Guardian 50FM Air helmet with flip-up filter and the Guardian Air PAPR in a black Böhler bag. The ADF has shades DIN 5-9 and 9-13 and a 50 x 100 mm viewing area, and with the filter lifted you grind through a clear visor. The blower unit supplies 180-220 l/min of air cleaned by a P R SL filter, the system reaches class TH3 to EN 12941.

Who it is for
- MIG/MAG, TIG and MMA welding alternating with grinding: you lift the filter and the air supply keeps running.
- Two shade ranges, DIN 5-9 and 9-13, switched on the ADF.
- Stainless steel, galvanised sheet and aluminium: fume is stopped by the P R SL particle filter.
- A lighter blower unit: 870 g with battery and filter.
The helmet is not intended for laser welding. The Guardian Air manual excludes work in unventilated confined spaces (tanks, pipes, ducts), at an oxygen concentration below 19.5 %, in explosive zones and in strong wind.
What makes the Guardian 50FM Air Kit different
- The ADF flips up and there is a clear grinding visor underneath.
- Guardian 50FM ADF: 50 x 100 mm viewing area, light state DIN 4, ranges DIN 5-9 and 9-13, internal grind mode switch, class 1/1/1/2 to EN 379.
- Delay in 3 settings (0.1 s, 0.5 s and 0.9 s) and sensitivity set with a knob.
- 6 blower levels from 180 to 220 l/min, set with the +/- buttons after a 2 s hold.
- The air flow does not drop as the filter fills and the battery discharges: a microprocessor watches over it.
- Visual and audible alarm below 170 l/min, visual alarm for a low battery.

Frequently asked questions
What do I pay extra for compared with the 50M Air Kit?
The Guardian Air unit is the same in both kits. The 50FM Air Kit gives you a flip-up filter with grinding visor and the second DIN 5-9 range, while the Böhler Welding Guardian 50M Air Kit, welding helmet with Guardian Air PAPR has a fixed filter and only the DIN 9-13 range. If you need gas filters and 14 h of work, choose the Böhler Welding Guardian 62F Air Kit, flip-up welding helmet with Evolution Air PAPR with the Evolution Air unit.
How do I switch the shade range and grind mode?
You switch between DIN 5-9 and 9-13 on the ADF, which also carries the internal grind mode switch. For longer grinding it is easier to lift the filter and work through the clear visor; the spare visor is the Böhler Welding grinding visor Guardian 62F, 62F Air, 50FM Air (2 pcs).
How often should I change the P R SL filter and the pre-filter?
Check or change the fleece pre-filter when the alarm goes off; it must cover the whole main filter. The Böhler Welding P R SL particle filter Guardian Air (4 pcs) main filter works no longer than 2 weeks or 90 h, whichever is longer. Filters are not cleaned or reused.
