The Guardian 50M Air Kit is a ready-to-use set with the lighter Böhler Welding blower unit: the Guardian 50M Air auto-darkening helmet in matt blue and the Guardian Air PAPR in a black Böhler bag. The unit supplies 180-220 l/min of air cleaned by a P R SL filter to the helmet, and the system reaches class TH3 to EN 12941. The ADF has a 50 x 100 mm viewing area and shades DIN 9 to 13 set with an external knob.

Who it is for
- MIG/MAG, MMA and TIG welding in workshops when you need class TH3 respiratory protection without a half mask.
- Stainless steel, galvanised sheet and aluminium: the P R SL filter stops solid particles and liquid aerosols.
- Welding interrupted by grinding: you select the grind position with the same knob you use for the shade.
- Less weight on the belt: the unit with battery and filter weighs 870 g.
The helmet is not for laser welding. Do not use the kit in tanks, ducts, pipes or other unventilated rooms, at oxygen levels below 19.5 %, in explosive atmospheres or in strong wind.
What makes the Guardian 50M Air Kit different
- Air flow of 180-220 l/min in 6 levels; you change the level with the +/- buttons, which have to be held for 2 s.
- A microprocessor keeps the set air flow even as the filter clogs and the battery weakens.
- Visual and audible alarm when the air flow drops below 170 l/min, a separate visual signal for a low battery.
- Li-Ion battery 7.4 V, 5200 mAh: up to 8 h at the lowest level, 6 h at the highest; charging 4 to 6 h.
- The unit with battery and filter weighs 870 g, and the filter cover opens without tools.
- Guardian 50 ADF: 50 x 100 mm viewing area, 4 arc sensors, light state DIN 4, shade DIN 9 to 13 and grind position on the external knob, class 1/1/1/2 to EN 379.

Frequently asked questions
Guardian 50M Air Kit or 50FM Air Kit?
Both have the same Guardian Air unit. With the Böhler Welding Guardian 50FM Air Kit, flip-up welding helmet with Guardian Air PAPR you pay extra for a flip-up filter with grinding visor and a second shade range: DIN 5-9 in addition to 9-13. If you mostly weld in the DIN 9-13 range and grind with the filter in grind position, the 50M Air Kit is enough.
When is a kit with Evolution Air the better choice?
When you need protection against gases or a longer working time. Guardian Air works only with the P R SL filter (particles and aerosols). The Böhler Welding Guardian 62 Air Kit, welding helmet with Evolution Air PAPR has the Evolution Air unit with optional A1B1E1 P R SL filters, up to 240 l/min and a battery for 14 h, plus the Guardian 62 Air helmet with a 62 x 98 mm viewing area.
How do I switch on grind mode?
On the Guardian 50M Air the grind position is on the same knob you use to set the shade from DIN 9 to 13. The knob sits on the outside of the shell, so you keep the helmet on.
How long does the 5200 mAh battery take to charge?
4 to 6 h with the universal charger, which switches to trickle mode once the battery is full. Before first use, discharge the system completely and charge the battery for 16 h. The spare is Böhler Welding standard battery 5200 mAh Guardian Air, Evolution Air; Guardian Air also takes the Böhler Welding heavy-duty battery 7800 mAh Evolution Air, Guardian Air battery.
